Critical Care Nurses
A critical care nurse is responsible for administering care and treatments to those who are seriously ill or injured. Due to the nature of the role, they have been through years of intensive training and gained invaluable experience across a range of specialisms. As a result of their extensive knowledge, critical care nurses operate in an array of different hospital departments including the ICU, Peadiatric ICU, Emergency Department, Cardiac Care Units, Recovery Rooms and Neonatal ICU. Their roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessing and treating patients.
- Ordering the completion of diagnostic tests.
- Transferring care to other health care specialists as situations demand.
- Continuously monitoring the quality of care provided to the patient
- Assist doctors with medical procedures.
- Educating the patient on their condition and providing ongoing support.
