Paediatric Nurses
A paediatric nurse plays a key role in assessing and nursing the needs of children, taking into account their medical, social and cultural as well as family needs during their treatment. Nurses who work in this profession are expert communicators and show empathy, sensitivity and compassion when speaking with and treating patients and their family. Due to the broad nature of this role, a paediatric nurse’s roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessing and observing the condition of the patient.
- Setting up drips and blood transfusions.
- Administering medication and injections.
- Write reports and update records.
- Complete tests and patient evaluations
- Record pulse, blood pressure and temperature of patients.
- Developing close relationships with patients and their families.
